When hard-working Minnesotans—from teachers and nurses to firefighters and waitresses—are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs in our community, you know there’s a problem. MHP’s 2025 State Housing Profile shows that households with the lowest incomes continue to bear the greatest housing cost burdens, underscoring a severe undersupply of affordable and available rental units. 85% of all low-income renters are cost burdened—175,400 Minnesotans.
