Brief Description: IItasca County Habitat for Humanity (ICHFH) is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through affordable homeownership. Our New Home Program provides low-income families with the opportunity to build and own their own homes while developing essential life skills.
In 2024, we are completing a 3-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom, two-story modular hybrid single-family home. This year, we are also finishing the rehabilitation of another Habitat 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom single-family home and beginning construction on a 3-bedroom, 1.75-bathroom, single-story modular hybrid home.
To qualify for homeownership through ICHFH, families must meet specific criteria:
Income: Fall within the 30-80% of the area median income level for Itasca County.
Financial capacity: Demonstrate the ability to afford a mortgage, including taxes and insurance.
Partnership: Be willing to partner with Habitat by contributing sweat equity and participating in financial education programs.
Need: Demonstrate a need for safe, decent, and affordable housing.
Through a partnership between Habitat and the homeowner, we construct energy-efficient, single-family homes. To foster self-sufficiency, homeowners contribute “sweat equity” by assisting in the construction process and participating in financial literacy programs.
By combining affordable housing with comprehensive support services, ICHFH empowers families to achieve stability, build wealth, and create a brighter future for themselves and their children.
