MHP Opens Application Nationally To Select New Beneficiaries of Technical Support – Apply Now!

Is your community facing a lack of affordable housing? Is a demographic group in your hometown underserved? Do you work for an organization that could benefit from enhanced local knowledge, training, and/or strategic partnerships? If so, MHP is available to assist in addressing the issues that your community faces.

MHP is opening its Request for Technical Assistance (RFTA) Application for a limited time this summer, through its renowned Strengthening Rural Communities Program. MHP’s program delivers technical and financial assistance to rural entities and Native nations; increasing their capacity to meet current and future housing needs. Thanks to our generous funders, awardees can receive this assistance from MHP’s experts at no cost; increasing their local capacity and positioning themselves to achieve their unique vision and sustain successes long after work with MHP is complete.

In the current year alone, our team has supported 36 rural communities through our TA and capacity building, helping our community partners advance a pipeline of nearly 250 affordable housing units being developed, rehabbed, or preserved, as well as numerous community and economic development projects and programs. Our TA Specialists have the expertise to assist with a diverse set of issues, including (but not limited to) housing development, housing program development, organizational development, funding and resource development, and community engagement and outreach.

Housing entities serving (or attempting to serve) communities of 50,000 individuals or less are generally eligible for assistance through this program. MHP can work with several different types of organization including rural housing development organizations (RHDOs), local units of government and political subdivisions, tribal governments and tribal corporate entities, and CHDOs and CDCs. Currently state-wide or state-affiliated entities are not eligible for the Strengthening Rural Communities Program.

While beneficiaries must qualify as one of the above, no official designation or certification is required. If you’re unsure of your organization’s designation, our TA Staff are happy to discuss eligibility and provide guidance prior to entering the application process.

Applicants will go through a competitive review. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis (in the order they are received). Click HERE to access the application directly. An MHP Representative will follow up within forty-five days to schedule a collaborative review of your application. MHP is an equal opportunity assistance provider and affirmatively markets its Technical Assistance to communities most impacted by economic and racial disparities. More information on these efforts and paper copies of all materials are available upon request.

We hope to work with you soon! Please don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance with the application process or with questions.  You can reach out to our staff via the contact information below with questions or concerns.
